Grandma

My Grandmother passed away this week. Its a sad time, but she is no longer in any pain. She was one of the most important women in my life.
Growing up my sister and I were at her house every weekend. The three of us had alot of fun times. Every weekend when we got to Watertown she would take us to Jreck subs to grab our dinner. We would take it back to her house, only to get home and find out that our pickles had fallen out of the bag. When we got back to her house we would all sit in frount of the TV and watch Golden Girls. That was one of her favorite shows. Me and Lacey would always help her do her dusting and regular house cleaning.
The Holidays were so much fun, She loved Christmas! On Thanksgiving Me and Lacey would stay at her house for a few days. The first thing she would want us to do is put her Tree up. So Lacey and I would go into her basement, which we swore was haunted. We later found out that all that rattling was coming from the furnace. one of us would stand at the top of the stairs and the other at the bottom and we would toss the stuff up to the other. She would be in the living room telling us that we better be "carrying that stuff upstairs" she knew better!
I remember this 1 time the 3 of us girls went strawberry picking together. Lacey and I were like 7 and 8. We were up in the back of the wagon and Grandma was down at the stand getting the bowls for us to fill. Next thing we know we start to leave, without her! She was running trying to keep up and Lacey & I just looked at each other trying to figure out what to do. The tractor finally stopped and she got on. Boy was she mad.
This one time it was our weekend to go up and we found a baby bird whose wings were hurt. We decided that we were going to take it to Watertown with us. So in the box goes the bird, when we got to Grandmas we went right to our room. We spent most of that night in the room, on Saturday for some reason Gram had decided that she needed to take us home early. So in the van we go, that bird was SO noisy the whole ride home. When we got home we let it go. When we got older We finally told Gram and she said she never knew. I'm not to sure about that one.
I was so lucky to have her in my life, and she played a huge part in my daughters lives also. Grandma, myself, and my girls went every place together. She would call me up and say she wanted to go out for a bit, and we would make a whole day of it. She loved to have a disposable camera on hand so she could catch all those silly and fun times. We spent the night with her quite often. When it was the 4 of us we would order dinner in and watch cartoons all night.
I will miss her greatly but I was so fortunate to have had 30 years with her, and that my girls knew her. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

windy day

What a windy day it was today, I was at school today and my sister-in-law sent me a message telling me that a huge tree in my side lawn broke and fell into the rd. It took out the power and cut off the traffic. They cut it out of the rd and threw it to the side. I was just grateful that it didn't land in my lawn or on my house.

Trick-r-treat!

Matt had some truck trouble on Sunday, so he wasn't able to go trick or treating with us. We went to my mom's first to show Great Nina. Boy was she excited to see them. When we were done there we headed to Redwood to drop off Hailey, then Lacey and Destiny showed up at Jan's and we all headed out. There wasn't as many people as last year. None the less the girls got more than enough candy.

Is it really almost November?

I have been in school for the last 2 months and boy is it a lot of hard work! I go to school, come home and sit at the table in front of my books. Matt has been doing most of the cooking and cleaning. I have even started paying the girls to do little chores around the house. Hailey is always happy to do anything I ask, but Missy hates to do any hard work. That little girl is a stinker. The other morning Hailey made eggs for her sister. My she is growing up so fast.

The pumpkin farm

Matt and I took the girls to the pumpkin farm in Adams Center today. We had been planning this for over a week! My Grandmother took us there every year when I was growing up, I have numerous pictures of the three of us grandchildren in front of The Great pumpkin. Today me, Mat, t and the girls went to get our pumpkins. All Melissa had talked about was going in the haunted house. We were right there at the entrance and the girls heard a chain saw going off and that was it! There was no way they were going in there. We went through the corn maze and then got our pumpkins. When we were done we headed back towards Watertown. When My Grandmother and I went up there we always stopped at Talcott falls. So on our way to today The four of us stopped, I have never seen the falls moving so fast before. Matt climbed right down to the base of the falls, you could feel the water land on your skin. It was beautiful! We stopped for lunch, then headed to Halloween City. The girls had a blast in there, we couldn't believe the decorations and costumes they had. When we got home we put up a bunch of decoration. We are going to carve our pumpkins tomorrow.

Fall is in the air!

Matt found a trolling motor at work on Monday, he was excited to see if it worked. When he got home he hooked it all up and to his amazement it was fine. Matt worked on it all week, brought his boat down from his mom's and hooked the motor to it. When we woke up this morning he decided to take me and Missy for a boat ride. It was a little cool, but nice.
He even taught Missy how to drive, granted she did only take us around in circles, but she was super excited. When Missy was done he taught me how to drive too. I was a little scared at first, because I didn't want to hit anything. After I got the hang of it I was alright. We got a little cold so we came home. It was a way to spend the day!

What a month!

Since I started school things have been so different around my house. when I was home every day and Matt was at work, I ran the home.Meaning that I did laundry, dishes, dinner, lawn care, grocery shopping, and the girls Dr. appointments . Well that has changed! I get up in the morning pick something out of the freezer, get dressed, and wait for my wonderful mother in law to come down to put the girls on the bus. I go to school all day might come home and do a quick load of laundry, then I bury my head in my school books until a half hour before the girls go to bed. I get to hang out with them for a bit, then its off to bed for them If I have to study Matt will help me but then he heads to bed also. I sit up until 9:00 and then I am usually in bed shortly after that. I have handed my home over to Matt. He does it all, dinner, dishes, kids Dr. appointments even the shopping. Thursday Missy had an appointment with an allergist in Syracuse and Matt had to take off work to take her down. She had her skin test where they gave her 29 shots. I wish I would have been there for her, but I had 2 tests that day, and am only allowed to miss 5 days of school before I am kicked out of the program! So I have to thank my wonderful husband for being there for me when I need him. Without him I could not do this. I love ya Matt

The first day of school!

Tuesday was the girls first day of school. Hailey in third grade and Missy in Kindergarten. My day started at 6:20am when I woke up. I got dressed, ate some breakfast, then woke up the girls and headed to Watertown. Julie got the Girls dressed, hair up, and new earrings in. Missy was a little nervous. She was worried that she would get lost when she got there, or that she would get left on the bus. Hailey walked her to get breakfast, then to her room. After school Hailey stopped in and asked her teacher how Melissa did on her first day. The girls were both in bed and sound asleep by 8:30 that night and saying they love it.

The State Fair!

I took the girls to the fair today, they had a blast. When we first got there we ran into Barney. Missy thought that was awesome. She wanted her picture done right away. Hailey on the other hand said she was "way to old" to pose for a picture with him. My little Hailey is growing up! After the pictures we walked over to the Masons table. They were giving away child ID cards. Both the girls got their picture, height, weight, and even finger prints done. The local news station had a setup were the girls could pretend to be on TV. They recorded this to a jump drive for me, so cute When we were done there we made our way to the horse show, Missy was so excited. The 3 of us sat there and ate our lunch while we watched the horse jumps. She was a little upset to see them slapping the horses. I tried to tell her that was how they got them to do what they wanted them to do. When we were done there we headed over to the elephant and lion show. That was kind of scary. The lions were very hot and didn't listen very well! On the way to the smallest pony in the world tent the girls came across the hamster ball ride. They begged me to let them go on this. They got inside these huge plastic balls that were filled with air, and had to try and stand up. This was impossible! The girls kept falling all over the place. They stayed in those balls for about 15 minutes. After getting out they splashed some water on there faces and we headed to the train. This was an old train that they had set up for people to walk through. We started out in the first class cabin. A living room full of cozy chairs and couches. Then came the baby's bedroom, adult bedrooms and even a kitchens, All air conditioned of course!

After the first class seating was the regular seating. These seats of course were not air conditioned, and very close together. At the end of the tour came the gift shop. We were roped into buying 3 bottles of ice cold train water, and a patch for Grandpa. We headed home around 6:30pm. The girls and myself were ready to head home. We had a nice time, they came home went up to bed and so far I haven't heard a peep out of them.

My little helpers

We had our well pounded back in June. I didn't know there was going to so much more work to do after the drill guy was done. Matt had to dig a 4 foot trench from the well casing into the house. After that he had to cut out the holes in the casing for the pit less adapter. That was harder than he thought it was going to be, he broke through 3 different drill bits. Next came the foot valve 2 sets of 40ft long hose had to be put down into the well. After that was all done came the hard job of filling in the trench. Matt and myself did most of the work, after an hour or so we decided to put the girls to work. Hailey did a great job helping, Missy on the other hand was not as much help. Missy had to change her dress twice because she got mud on it, and her shoes 3 times. She also had to put her hair up. She said it kept getting in her eyes, so she went in the house. Thinking that she was going to come out with a half up pony tail, I was surprised to see her with her underpants on her head. After a while we finally got the trench filled in, but Missy kept her silly hat on for the rest of the night!

My weekend.

We went to Darien Lake for a few days. We left home Friday morning for a weekend with no children, our first in a few years. It took about 4 hours to get there but once we did we wanted to spend the day at the park. Matt had never been on a rollercoster before this weekend. His first was this old wooden one, it was a rough ride. Shook us all over. When we were in line waiting we noticed that the ride of steel had stopped almost all the way at the top. This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't a 208ft incline. The workers said that the power had gone out in the next town over, leaving the poor people on the ride sitting at the top waiting to come down. The ride was still working when Matt and I got off ours but there was no way I was going on it! We went on a few more rides that first day. When we were done we went to the camp grounds to get settled in. We did not expect our friends till well after 9pm so the husband and myself sat by the fire and read for a bit. The next day we got to the park when it opened, we went on every possible ride that would scare the heck out of us. My cousin hates heights so much, that he doesn't climb ladders. He went on every thing we did, even the Mind eraser! You are suspended with your feet hanging down and there are 3 loops. Feels like you are going to fall out. After the ride we went back to the parking lot wich at this time had turned into tent city. We ate dinner and hung out before we headed into the Tom Petty concert. My husband and I had never been to a concert before, it was awesome! There were so many people and the prices for a beverage were crazy. I'm am not a Tom petty fan at all but the lights and music were amazing. It took us an hour to get back to the truck and drive to the camp, 3 miles away. The next morning when we were packing up it started to rain. On our way home the wipers stopped working. At home I ordered a pizza for dinner and did nothing else. It was a great weekend I got to spend time with my closest friends and family, and look forward to doing it again next year.

My week

I didn't have work today so me and the girls did all our running. I had to go to the bank, store to take cans and bottles back. Matt's allergies have been bothering him pretty bad so I took my blankets from our bed to the laundry mat and washed them. After dinner the girls and I went to Sixberry lake and went for a quick swim at the boat launch. We got a new kitty last week. His name is cracker, he is 6 weeks old. Such a hand full, into everything and the kids wont leave him alone. I'm going to wait a month or 2 before I put him outside he is still a little to small.

last day at work

I had the oxbow fire dept. bring there water wall for the day. The kids had a blast they got covered in mud, and the water wasn't that cold. When we were done I made some hot dogs and the kids played man hunt. When I got ready to leave the hugged the girls. I enjoyed my time with them and have already said that I would like to do it again next year.

volunteers are working on my House.

So we had made arrangements to have some volunteers come work on our home. I was under the assumption that they were going to be adults. Boy was I wrong they are high school students, about 16 of them. The plan is to insulate the north side of the house with insulation board. after that we are going to put the board on it. They have been here for 2 days and done a good job. One of the boys got stung by our nasty bees.
I have 3 more day left of work and then I am done. It went by faster than I had thought. The summer is almost done, I have been getting everything ready for Hailey to go back to school. Missy starts kindergarten this year, lots of school cloths and supplies. Matt helped me get my desk upstairs and I am ready to start school. I have a very busy month for August, Me and Matt are going away for the 1st weekend to a concert. Then the field days is the next weekend. I still don't know what the girls are going to go as. The last weekend of the month I am going to the state fair to see Rhianna, then the next day my cousin is getting married. I don't know how I am going to balance everything out next month.

We have water!

We now have water in the house. Matt has spent the the weekend picking up the mess, he buried the line in the trench. We even put the kids to work on the trench filling. Matt laid the patio blocks out yesterday and laid gravel up to the door so we can walk around without getting our feet muddy.
We went to my mothers house yesterday for Hailey's birthday party. Dad got water balloons for the girls but it was rainy and thundering. We stayed inside all day but still managed to have fun, the girls played barbies. Hailey got 3 different games for her ds, a new bathing suit, and a few other things.
Matt is home today finishing cleaning up the clay mess. He is loading it in a trailer and dumping it by the house to level the sides out. I went to Redwood to see Matt's grandparents today, and went to a potluck after church. The food was amazing, all different kinds of dishes.

My beautiful little girls

The girls decided to put on a play for Matt and I a few weeks ago. They did the wizard of oz for us, they practiced for about an hour. When it was time to show us they forgot what they were doing. Then they started fighting, I recorded the entire thing so in 10 years or so we can watch it and laugh.
I had to work today, very slow. Matt is going to meet me in Redwood with Missy and I have to get Hailey. After that the girls and I are going to the drive-in to watch Marmaduke.

Home at last

We left my house at 9:30 am this morning to head to Mexico. Got Lacey and Destiny moved all in after several hours. She had everything all boxed up and ready to go. Matt and her went and grabbed the uhaul and we loaded her up. While they were gone I took the girls across the road to see the horses. I had a feeling the electric fence was on, boy was I right. My shoulder hit it and jolted right through my entire body. Wow!
The place she moved into is really nice, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. All brand new appliances. I am really happy for her, she needed this. After we unloaded the truck we had to
return it and Lacey needed to get a couch. On our way to drop off the truck we stopped at a flee market there was a couch and they gave it to her for nothing. Droped off the truck, took them home and headed out.We got home at 10:45 and put Missy to bed. Matt just headed up and I will be shortly after.

Helping My sister move

Headed to Syracuse to help my sister and niece Destiny move. should be a long hard day. They are moving from Mexico to Central Square.

A boat ride with the girls.

Last Sunday me, Matt, and the girls went a boat ride up on the beaver lake. Marky and Annie took out the canoe. We had alot of fun, got off at a few islands to explore. Matt promised me he would go swimming with me. Once I was ready he decided the water was to cold, Marky went in with me. The water was nice, but we weren't sure if there were any snakes so we got out.

Its been a while

Since my last entry a few things have changed. My husband is home more often, no more plowing for him until next winter. Missy just turned 5 and Hailey will turn 8 in a few weeks. We are adding a small addition to our house. It will be my laundry room but currently it is Lucky the dogs bedroom. We are getting a well drilled, Missy had to have stitches in her chin back in March. In September Missy will be starting Kindergarten, Hailey in 3rd, and I will be taking a LPN class. I am very excited about that.
