Grandma

My Grandmother passed away this week. Its a sad time, but she is no longer in any pain. She was one of the most important women in my life.
Growing up my sister and I were at her house every weekend. The three of us had alot of fun times. Every weekend when we got to Watertown she would take us to Jreck subs to grab our dinner. We would take it back to her house, only to get home and find out that our pickles had fallen out of the bag. When we got back to her house we would all sit in frount of the TV and watch Golden Girls. That was one of her favorite shows. Me and Lacey would always help her do her dusting and regular house cleaning.
The Holidays were so much fun, She loved Christmas! On Thanksgiving Me and Lacey would stay at her house for a few days. The first thing she would want us to do is put her Tree up. So Lacey and I would go into her basement, which we swore was haunted. We later found out that all that rattling was coming from the furnace. one of us would stand at the top of the stairs and the other at the bottom and we would toss the stuff up to the other. She would be in the living room telling us that we better be "carrying that stuff upstairs" she knew better!
I remember this 1 time the 3 of us girls went strawberry picking together. Lacey and I were like 7 and 8. We were up in the back of the wagon and Grandma was down at the stand getting the bowls for us to fill. Next thing we know we start to leave, without her! She was running trying to keep up and Lacey & I just looked at each other trying to figure out what to do. The tractor finally stopped and she got on. Boy was she mad.
This one time it was our weekend to go up and we found a baby bird whose wings were hurt. We decided that we were going to take it to Watertown with us. So in the box goes the bird, when we got to Grandmas we went right to our room. We spent most of that night in the room, on Saturday for some reason Gram had decided that she needed to take us home early. So in the van we go, that bird was SO noisy the whole ride home. When we got home we let it go. When we got older We finally told Gram and she said she never knew. I'm not to sure about that one.
I was so lucky to have her in my life, and she played a huge part in my daughters lives also. Grandma, myself, and my girls went every place together. She would call me up and say she wanted to go out for a bit, and we would make a whole day of it. She loved to have a disposable camera on hand so she could catch all those silly and fun times. We spent the night with her quite often. When it was the 4 of us we would order dinner in and watch cartoons all night.
I will miss her greatly but I was so fortunate to have had 30 years with her, and that my girls knew her. She will be forever missed, but never forgotten.
